Zushi Beach
A smooth arc of sand faces the bay and forms the seaward edge of the town. It is the clean, simple curve that holds the whole map together.

La mappa
Zushi Map Poster & Print
Zushi faces Sagami Bay on the western side of the Miura Peninsula, between Kamakura and Hayama. The town fills a short strip of lowland behind a gently curved beach, and the Tagoe River runs through it down to the sea. Steep wooded hills close in on three sides, so the streets stop abruptly where the slopes begin, a clear line on any map.
Since the late nineteenth century Zushi has been a seaside retreat for people from Tokyo and Yokohama. Today it is a commuter town with a strong beach culture. From above the contrast is striking. Fine, dense residential lanes fill the flat land, then long fingers of houses follow the valleys inland, separated by empty green ridges.
A Zushi map poster is a good choice for anyone who has spent summers on its beach or commuted from here into the city. The coastline gives the composition a strong lower edge, and the hills leave generous blank space. That keeps the design calm and uncluttered, even with so much detail in the streets.

Valley streets
Housing follows narrow valleys that cut into the hills, so streets branch inland like fingers. Each one ends where the wooded slopes become too steep to build on.
Marina and headlands
Further along, the shoreline turns rocky and irregular around a marina and small headlands. This adds texture to the coast before it continues toward Hayama.

Perché Zushi
Una mappa che ha un significato
Zushi holds a particular place for people who know it: the train from Tokyo, the walk down to the water, the green hills behind the town. A map poster gives that memory a clear, quiet form, and the mix of sea, valleys and slopes looks especially good in monochrome.
Choose one of five styles, from Classic black & white to Blueprint, Sand, Paper or Noir, and edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line. The $9 digital download includes six sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files. You can also order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
