Augustinian convent
The sixteenth-century convent of San Nicolás de Tolentino fills a broad block near the centre. Its large walled footprint stands out clearly against the smaller residential lots around it.

Actopan Map Poster & Print
Actopan sits in the Mezquital Valley of Hidalgo, north-west of Pachuca, where irrigated fields meet dry hillsides. From above, the town reads as a tidy grid of blocks gathered around a central square. Toward the edges, the streets thin into farm tracks and scattered houses. Highways leading out of town cut clean lines through the pattern and link it to the state capital and the wider valley.
The town's best-known landmark is the sixteenth-century Augustinian convent of San Nicolás de Tolentino, a massive stone complex famous for its early colonial murals. On a map it appears as a large, solid block close to the centre, much bigger than the ordinary lots around it. An Actopan map poster keeps that contrast: one heavy footprint set inside a fine mesh of streets.
Beyond the built-up area the valley opens into a patchwork of parcels, canals and country roads, with higher, rockier ground rising past the fields. In black and white, that shift from a dense centre to open land frames the composition naturally. The town holds the middle of the sheet, and the landscape fades gently toward its edges.

Central grid
Straight streets run in a regular pattern out from the main square, giving the core of Actopan the orderly, repeated rhythm of a town laid out in the colonial period.
Valley farmland
Around the town, the Mezquital Valley breaks into irregular fields and irrigation lines. This looser texture contrasts with the compact centre and fills the outer margins of the print.
