Ahor is a town in the Jalore district of Rajasthan, in the arid western part of India. The surrounding country is largely flat and dry, with farmland and scrub stretching away on every side and scattered villages connected by rural roads. On a map the town appears as a tight settlement set in the middle of this open, sunlit landscape.
Its street pattern is typical of older market towns in the region: narrow lanes packed closely together in the centre, with wider roads passing along the edges and carrying traffic to neighbouring towns. Newer houses and plots extend outward along these roads, so the outline of the town stretches wherever the main routes run.
