Ālankōd is a town in the Malappuram district of Kerala, in the green lowlands a short distance inland from the Arabian Sea. Like much of this part of Kerala, it does not have a sharp urban edge; houses and lanes spread across the landscape in an almost continuous pattern.
On a map, roads twist around paddy fields, ponds and small hills, connecting homesteads and neighbouring villages. The main roads form a looser network, and the smaller lanes fill the gaps with curving, irregular lines. In black and white, this produces a soft, woven texture rather than a grid.
