Amizour lies in the province of Béjaïa in northeastern Algeria, in the Kabylie region. The town sits on the southern side of the lower Soummam valley, a short distance inland from the coast at Béjaïa. The terrain is hilly, and on a map the streets bend and climb, following ridges and slopes instead of a straight plan.
The Soummam River runs along the broad valley floor below, a wide, flat corridor carrying the main road and railway towards the coast. On the hills around Amizour, olive groves, small fields and scattered villages cover the land. Mountain roads wind between them, forming a looping network that links the town to the surrounding hamlets.
