Anthiyur is a town in the Erode district of western Tamil Nadu, where the plains meet the forested Bargur hills. It is a farming centre for the surrounding villages. The area is known for its annual temple festival and livestock fair, which draws traders and visitors from across the region.
On a map, Anthiyur has the dense, organic core of an old South Indian market town, with narrow streets packed around the main bazaar and temple. Roads leave the centre toward Bhavani, Gobichettipalayam and the hills, and houses and shops line them.
