Apomu is an old Yoruba town in Osun State, in southwestern Nigeria. It is the headquarters of the Isokan local government area. Historians of the Yoruba wars of the early nineteenth century often mention Apomu, whose market was a regional meeting place at the time. On a map the town appears as a dense cluster of streets surrounded by farmland and forest.
As in many traditional Yoruba towns, the older part of Apomu grew around a central area with a palace and market. Streets radiate from this core and branch into smaller lanes, forming an organic pattern rather than a grid. Roads leave the town toward neighbouring communities and larger centres in Osun and Oyo States.
Around the town, the land is green and gently rolling, with farms and patches of woodland creating a fine, irregular texture.
