Asse lies in Flemish Brabant, just beyond the western edge of Brussels, where the city gives way to gently rolling farmland. On a map it is not a single compact town but a group of village centres, each with its own church square and cluster of streets, connected by country lanes, ribbon development along the roads and patches of woodland.
The main road toward Brussels and a regional railway pass through the municipality, tying it closely to the capital, while the eastern part near Zellik merges with the suburbs. Further west the landscape opens toward the Pajottenland, with fields, hedges and small valleys drawing an irregular pattern that feels far removed from the city only a few kilometres away.
An Asse map poster captures that blend of suburb and countryside. The dense street network nearest Brussels contrasts with the looser patchwork to the west, and the separate village cores add small points of focus across the frame.
