Bādshāhpur lies on the southern side of Gurugram in Haryana, part of the fast-growing region around Delhi. It began as a village, and on a map that origin is still visible: an irregular core of narrow lanes sits among the much larger, straighter blocks of the planned sectors that have grown up around it over recent decades.
The contrast is the most striking thing about the place from above. Wide arterial roads, gated housing complexes and commercial plots follow the regular sector grid of modern Gurugram, while the old settlement keeps its dense, organic pattern. To the south the land rises toward the low Aravalli hills, which frame the edge of the city.
