Baekrajan lies in Central Java, on the low, flat ground that stretches inland from the island's north coast. From above, the area reads as a mosaic of densely built village clusters separated by rice fields. Narrow lanes connect the settlements, and irrigation and drainage channels run in straight or gently curving lines across the farmland. It is a pattern typical of Java's intensively farmed lowlands.
On this kind of terrain, water shapes almost everything on the map. Canals and field boundaries follow the flow of irrigation, and the houses gather on slightly higher ground along the roads. Larger towns of the region lie within a short distance, and the main roads between them pass through the countryside around Baekrajan.
