Bāonlī is a town in eastern Rajasthan, in the Sawai Madhopur area. The countryside around it is mostly flat and dry, with farmland, seasonal watercourses and low rises. On a map the town is a dense cluster of lanes at the centre, surrounded by fields and a few roads leading to neighbouring villages and towns.
The street pattern is typical of older north Indian market towns. There is no rigid grid. Lanes twist and narrow between tightly packed houses, and a main road carries most of the through traffic. The Ranthambore landscape, known for its tiger reserve, lies in the same district to the south.
