Benslimane lies in the Casablanca-Settat region, inland from the Atlantic coast between Casablanca and Rabat. Known in the colonial era as Boulhaut, it is a modest provincial capital with a clear, compact centre and residential districts spreading outward. On a map, the most striking feature is the wooded land that surrounds the town and sets it apart from the busier coast.
The Benslimane forest, dominated by cork oak, covers large areas around the town and gives the map a broad, open frame. Roads leading toward Mohammedia, Casablanca and Rabat cut through this woodland, and the edges of new neighbourhoods meet it directly. The result is a town with an unusually clean outline, where built area and forest are clearly divided.
