Best Map Poster & Print
Best lies in North Brabant, just northwest of Eindhoven, and on a map it is shaped by transport lines as much as by streets. The railway between Eindhoven and 's-Hertogenbosch runs through the town, the A2 motorway passes along its side, and the Wilhelmina Canal crosses the area, giving the plan a set of strong, straight edges.
Within those lines, Best is made up of residential neighbourhoods with the curving streets and cul-de-sacs typical of Dutch post-war planning, grouped around a modest centre near the station. Beyond them lie woods, heathland and farmland, which keep the town clearly separated from its larger neighbour to the south.
Best has an unusual industrial past: the Czech shoe company Bata built a factory and a planned workers' village here in the 1930s, and Batadorp remains a recognisable district. A Best map poster shows how that history fits alongside canal, rail and motorway.
