Beypore Map Poster & Print
Beypore lies just south of Kozhikode on the Kerala coast, where the Chaliyar River meets the Arabian Sea. On a map the estuary is the dominant shape: a wide river mouth with sandbanks, long breakwaters extending into the sea and a straight coastline running north and south from it.
The town has been a port for centuries and is famous for building the uru, the large traditional wooden vessel made by hand from timber. The shipbuilding yards along the river are its best-known sight. Around them, streets and lanes spread inland through a green landscape of coconut palms and houses.
A Beypore map poster centres on the meeting of river and sea, with the breakwaters, the harbour, the riverbanks and the grid of lanes behind them. It is a strong, clear composition shaped by water. It will appeal to anyone who knows the Malabar coast or has watched an uru take shape on the riverbank.

Breakwaters
Long, narrow breakwaters reach out into the Arabian Sea from the river mouth. They are thin straight lines that give the coastline a precise, engineered edge.
Riverside lanes
Small streets run through the green, low-rise area along the river, where the traditional boatbuilding yards are found.
