Bhadohi sits on the flat Gangetic plain of eastern Uttar Pradesh, roughly midway between Varanasi and Prayagraj, with the Ganges flowing a short distance to the south. It is widely known as India's carpet city: hand-knotted rugs from Bhadohi and the surrounding villages are exported around the world, and the craft shapes much of daily life here.
On a map, the town appears as a compact, densely built core of narrow lanes and markets, with larger roads leading out toward neighbouring towns. Weaving workshops, warehouses and homes blend together, so the street pattern is fine and irregular.
