Bni Bouayach lies in the Rif region of northern Morocco, inland from Al Hoceima. The town sits where the Rif mountains meet the flat Nekor plain. On a map its main roads run in fairly straight lines across level land, with blocks of housing growing along them. To the south and west, the ground rises into the hills.
The plain around the town is farmed, and the fields form a patchwork of plots and irrigation lines. Bni Bouayach serves as a market and service centre for the surrounding rural communities. It is also close enough to Al Hoceima and the Mediterranean coast that the road network ties it to the wider region.
