Bo Map Poster
Bo is the capital of Sierra Leone's Southern Province and the country's second-largest city. From above, it has a loose, spreading plan. A central commercial area gathers around a few main junctions, and the residential neighbourhoods fan outward on roads that branch into the surrounding low hills, farmland and patches of forest.
The city grew around the railway that once ran inland from Freetown, and it later became a centre of education and trade for the south. Bo School, founded in 1906, is one of the best-known schools in the country. The surrounding region is also associated with diamond mining and agriculture.
