Boulder Map Poster
Boulder lies where the Great Plains meet the Front Range of the Rockies, and the map makes that edge unusually clear. To the east the streets form a regular grid; to the west they stop abruptly against steep, forested slopes, where only a few roads and trails wind up into the foothills and canyons.
Boulder Creek runs out of its canyon and straight through the city from west to east, lined by a continuous path that shows up as a green corridor on the map. North of the creek, the downtown grid centres on Pearl Street, while the University of Colorado campus spreads across the hill to the south with its own, looser network of paths and buildings.
The city is known for its early and extensive open-space programme, which keeps a belt of undeveloped land around much of the town. A Boulder map poster shows that clean boundary between streets and landscape, along with the creek, the campus and the grid that sits at the base of the Flatirons.
