Brufut Map Poster & Print
Brufut lies in the Kombo area of the Gambia's Western Region, a short distance inland from the Atlantic coast and south of the Serrekunda urban area. Once a village, it has grown steadily as the coastal belt around the capital has expanded. New homes and roads now cover land that was once farmland and bush.
On a map, the older core shows an irregular pattern of lanes between family compounds, while newer areas are laid out in more regular plots with straight tracks. To the west, the land reaches the Atlantic. There a long beach is used by fishing boats and, in places, by hotels built along the coast. The shoreline gives the drawing a clear, clean edge.
A Brufut map poster records a town in transition, where old and new street patterns sit side by side. The Atlantic fills one side of the composition, and the road network spreads inland with varying density: fine and organic in some places, orderly in others. In black and white, that contrast becomes the character of the piece.
