Bünde Map Poster & Print
Bünde lies in the Herford district of East Westphalia, in the gently rolling country between the Wiehen Hills and the Teutoburg Forest. The small river Else flows through the town, and its valley forms a green strip across the map. The historic centre lies on one side, and later residential districts spread over the low hills around it.
For much of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries Bünde was a centre of the German cigar industry, and it is still known as a cigar town. The German Tobacco and Cigar Museum in the old centre tells that story. Many former villages now belong to the municipality, so the map mixes an urban core with scattered settlements, farmland and woodland.
