Burscheid lies in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia, in the hilly Bergisches Land east of the Rhine. From above, the town is shaped by terrain: streets follow ridges and bend into narrow valleys, so the pattern is irregular and organic rather than grid-like.
The town sits between Leverkusen and Wermelskirchen, and the A1 motorway passes nearby, linking it to the larger cities of the Rhine-Ruhr region. Around the centre, the landscape breaks into small woods, meadows and scattered settlements typical of the Bergisches Land.
