Čačak lies in central Serbia on the West Morava river, in a wide valley between mountains. The town centre sits on the flat ground near the river, with streets spreading out toward the surrounding slopes. The river runs east to west across the map, lined with fields and suburbs, and the hills rise steadily on both sides.
West of the town, the West Morava cuts through the Ovčar-Kablar gorge, a narrow valley between steep mountains, known for its Serbian Orthodox monasteries. The area around Čačak is also a major fruit-growing region, especially for plums and raspberries, which shows in the orchards and small plots around the town.
