Candeias do Jamari is a town in northern Rondônia, a short distance from the state capital, Porto Velho. It stands beside the Candeias River, and the wider municipality is named after the Jamari River basin. On the map the river is the strongest natural line, curving past the edge of the town.
The town has a fairly regular layout of blocks built along and near the federal highway that links it to Porto Velho. This road cuts a firm straight stroke through the composition, while the residential streets run out from it in a simple grid that fades into cleared land and forest.
