Canoinhas Map Poster & Print
Canoinhas lies on the Planalto Norte of Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil, on rolling highland at a comfortable altitude. From above, the town has a clear centre of regular blocks, with neighbourhoods spreading along the roads and following the gentle rise and fall of the land. The Canoinhas River and smaller streams wind through the area, and patches of forest and farmland frame the edges.
The region has an important place in Brazilian history. In the early twentieth century it was part of the contested territory where the Contestado War was fought between 1912 and 1916. Canoinhas later developed as a centre of erva-mate production, the plant used to make chimarrão, which remains part of local identity.
A Canoinhas map poster shows a southern Brazilian highland town clearly: an orderly centre, streams that bend through green space, and roads running out across the plateau. The softer terrain and water give the grid movement, which works well in any of the five styles.

Rivers and streams
The Canoinhas River and its tributaries trace winding lines through and around the town, often edged by green strips that soften the street pattern.
Plateau roads
Highways and rural roads leave the town in several directions across the highland, linking it to farms, forests and neighbouring towns.
