Colombo is a municipality in the metropolitan area of Curitiba, in the southern Brazilian state of Paraná. From above, its southern part is densely built. Residential neighbourhoods run up to the edge of Curitiba, while to the north the streets thin out into a rolling rural landscape of small farms, woods and winding country roads.
The town was founded in the late nineteenth century by Italian immigrants, and that heritage is still visible in its food, its wine and its rural tourism route, the Circuito Italiano. The area also has limestone terrain, and the Bacaetava cave is one of its natural attractions.
A Colombo map poster shows the transition from metropolitan density to countryside in a single frame. The southern edge is a mesh of streets merging with Curitiba, while the north is a loose, open network of roads following the hills and valleys.
