Capim Grosso lies in the interior of Bahia, in the semi-arid sertão north-west of Salvador. The town grew up as a stopping point where major roads cross the region, and its map still reflects that. A compact grid of streets is laid out along and around the highways, with commercial blocks close to the road and residential quarters behind.
The name means thick grass, a reminder of the vegetation that once covered the surrounding land. Today the town is a local centre for trade and services in a largely rural area. Beyond the built-up area, the map opens onto scattered farms, dirt roads and dry scrubland, the caatinga landscape typical of north-eastern Brazil.

Most of the town follows a simple grid of rectangular blocks, extended outward as new streets were added over the years. This gives the poster an even, orderly texture.
Sertão edges
Past the last streets the land opens into caatinga scrub and farmland crossed by unpaved roads. On the poster this reads as generous open space around the town.
