Centerville is in Davis County, Utah, on the narrow strip of land between the Wasatch Mountains and the Great Salt Lake, north of Salt Lake City between Bountiful and Farmington. On a map, the town has a clear east-west structure. Mountain foothills rise sharply on the east, and the land falls toward wetlands and the lake on the west.
The street layout follows the Utah pattern of a broad grid with wide blocks. Residential neighbourhoods fill most of the town, and on the eastern slopes streets start to bend around the foothills. Interstate 15 and the Legacy Parkway run north-south along the western side, along with rail lines, forming strong parallel lines between the suburb and the lakeshore marshes.
