Chānasma is a town in Patan district of northern Gujarat, on the dry, level plain between Patan and Mehsana. From above it appears as a compact settlement with an older centre of narrow lanes, surrounded by newer roads and fields that stretch out across the plain in every direction.
The town is known in the Jain community for its temple dedicated to Parshvanath, and temples and religious buildings are part of the fabric of the old town. Like many towns in north Gujarat, Chānasma has water bodies near its edges that appear as calm pale shapes against the fine texture of streets.
