Chekkiād is a village panchayat in Kozhikode district, in the northern part of Kerala, set in the rolling midland country between the coast and the Western Ghats. From above there is no single dense centre. Instead, houses and gardens are spread across the landscape, linked by narrow roads that follow ridges and valleys.
This dispersed pattern is typical of rural Kerala, where settlements blend into coconut groves, areca plantations and paddy land rather than forming compact towns.
