Chengamanād is in Ernakulam district in central Kerala, in the low, wet country inland from Kochi. Its map does not look like a compact town. Houses and lanes are spread out among trees and cultivated plots, and roads follow the higher, drier ground instead of a planned grid.
That gives the linework an organic, branching look. Main roads carry most of the traffic, and narrow lanes break off them and bend around gardens and fields.
