Chhatarpur lies in south Delhi, near Mehrauli and not far from the Qutub Minar. It is best known for the Chhatarpur Temple, a large complex dedicated to the goddess Katyayani, which draws many visitors, especially during Navratri. The surrounding area mixes an older urban village, newer residential blocks and large walled farmhouses set among trees.
From above, Chhatarpur has an irregular pattern. The dense lanes of the village contrast with wide plots and private estates, and major roads such as the route toward Mehrauli and Gurugram pass along its edges. To the east and south, the land becomes greener, part of the rocky, wooded Delhi Ridge that shapes this side of the city.
