Clemmons lies in Forsyth County, North Carolina, just west of Winston-Salem. Its western edge is defined by the Yadkin River, which curves along the county line, and on a map this water boundary gives the village a clear, natural limit that most suburban communities lack.
Interstate 40 runs through Clemmons, and the village's commercial areas gather near the interchanges and along the main roads. Around them, residential neighbourhoods spread in curving streets and cul-de-sacs, with wooded land and golf courses breaking up the pattern. Tanglewood Park, a large county park on a former Reynolds family estate, lies within the village.
