Daxing Map Poster & Print
Daxing lies south of central Beijing on the flat North China Plain. On a map, its central area around Huangcun is a grid of long, straight avenues and large blocks. Ring roads and expressways run in from the city to the north. To the west, the Yongding River's broad channel and embankments mark a natural edge.
The district is best known today for Beijing Daxing International Airport, opened in 2019, whose star-shaped terminal lies far to the south near the boundary with Hebei. Daxing is also known for its watermelons, and farmland still surrounds many of its towns.
A Daxing map poster shows the plain logic of a city built on level ground. In black and white, the wide avenues form large regular cells, the river draws a soft line down the western side, and the expressways reach north toward the rest of Beijing. The result is spacious and strongly geometric.
