Dhandhuka is a town in Ahmedabad district, in the level country south-west of Ahmedabad city. The land here is very flat, open and agricultural, and it runs toward the low Bhal plains near the Gulf of Khambhat. From above, the town appears as a dense cluster of lanes in the centre, surrounded by more loosely spaced roads and fields that spread in every direction.
The older part of Dhandhuka follows the usual pattern of a Gujarati market town: narrow, irregular streets, small squares and lanes that bend around houses rather than running in straight lines. Newer neighbourhoods and road frontage sit further out, where the street pattern opens up. The contrast between these two textures is the most striking thing on the map.
Dhandhuka also serves as a crossing point, with roads that link the Ahmedabad region to the towns of Saurashtra. A Dhandhuka map poster shows those routes arriving from the countryside and meeting in the tight weave of the old town. It is a modest, honest portrait of a working town on the plains.
