Dosso Map Poster
Dosso lies in south-western Niger, south-east of Niamey, and is the capital of the region of the same name. It sits on a broad, open plain typical of the Sahel. From above, the town is a spread of low-density blocks and wide streets, with sandy open spaces between districts and farmland stretching in every direction around it.
The town is an important crossroads. The main national road from Niamey to the east passes through it, and another major road leads south towards Benin. Dosso is also the seat of the Djermakoy, the traditional ruler of the Zarma people of the area, and the royal residence is one of the best-known buildings in town.
