Flint Map Poster & Print
Flint grew along the Flint River in the Michigan lowlands. It was known first as a lumber town, then as a centre for carriages and then cars. General Motors was founded here in 1908. The city's nickname, Vehicle City, is still spelled out on the arches over Saginaw Street downtown.
The map shows a broad grid of residential streets, the river winding through the middle, and I-69, I-75 and I-475 forming a rough ring. Large, now mostly empty plots where the auto plants once stood are still visible as open areas. The famous 1936–37 sit-down strike took place in those factories.
A Flint map poster tells that story quietly, through lines rather than words. It shows the downtown on the river, the long straight avenues heading outward, the freeways looping around, and the gaps where industry used to be. In black and white, it is an honest portrait of an American industrial city and of the people who stayed.
