Fundão lies on the coast of Espírito Santo, a short distance north of the Greater Vitória area. On a map, the municipality has two distinct parts. The town centre stands a little inland, beside the main highway and railway corridor. Nearer the sea, a separate beach district faces the Atlantic, and between them lies a stretch of flat, green countryside.
The town itself is small and fairly regular, with a few main streets and short blocks around a central square and church. The coastal settlement has a different texture: streets run parallel to the shore, and the long, gentle line of the beach forms the eastern edge.
