Gimbicho is a town in the Central Ethiopia Regional State, in the green, densely farmed highlands southwest of Addis Ababa. On a map, the town is a small, compact settlement. Its streets gather around the roads that pass through it, and all around is a countryside of small farm plots and scattered homesteads.
In this part of Ethiopia, rural settlement is dense and the land is intensively used. Around the town, footpaths and small roads connect many farmsteads, often surrounded by enset and other garden crops. The town itself works as a local meeting point for markets, services and travel.
