Głuchołazy lies in southern Poland, in the Opole Voivodeship, right beside the border with the Czech Republic. The town follows the valley of the Biała Głuchołaska river, with streets stretching along the water and climbing into the foothills of the Opawskie Mountains that rise to the south.
It has a long tradition as a spa and walking destination, with forested hills and trails close to the centre. The old town sits near the river, and from there the settlement spreads along roads that lead across the border and deeper into the mountains, giving the map a stretched, valley-shaped outline.
