Grand-Zattry lies in the Bas-Sassandra district of southwestern Ivory Coast, in a region of humid forest and farmland in the Sassandra river basin. On a map, the town appears as a compact built-up area with a centre of denser streets, surrounded by agricultural land and patches of woodland crossed by roads and tracks.
This part of the country is one of the main cocoa-growing areas of Ivory Coast, the world's largest cocoa producer, and much of the surrounding land is cultivated in small plantations.
