Greenville is the seat of Hunt County, about fifty miles northeast of Dallas, on the flat, dark-soiled prairie that once made this part of Texas cotton country. The map shows a classic county-seat layout: a downtown grid around the courthouse square, rail lines slicing through at angles, and residential streets spreading outward until they give way to farm roads and section lines.
Interstate 30 cuts across the north side of town, a clean, heavy line on the map with interchanges feeding the local grid. The town's agricultural past is kept at the Audie Murphy American Cotton Museum, which also honours the decorated soldier from Hunt County. On the south side, Majors Field, a long airstrip tied to the local aircraft modification industry, adds a sharp straight runway to the composition.
