Guézon is in the Montagnes district of western Ivory Coast, a region of rolling hills, forest remnants and cultivated plots that stretches towards the Guinean and Liberian borders. On a map, towns of this size tend to gather along a main road, with a looser web of lanes spreading out into the surrounding fields.
The street pattern here is informal rather than planned. Tracks follow the lie of the land, and clusters of compounds give the map its texture. Once you leave the centre, lines thin out quickly into farm paths, and small streams mark the low ground in the rainy season.
