Hermitage Map Poster & Print
Hermitage lies in Mercer County in western Pennsylvania, in the Shenango Valley just east of the Ohio border. Unlike the older mill towns nearby, it grew as a spread-out community of residential loops, cul-de-sacs and wide arterial roads. From above it looks less like a single centre and more like a network of neighbourhoods linked by a few strong through-routes.
The city is known for the Avenue of 444 Flags, a memorial in Hillcrest Memorial Park. It began as a tribute to the Americans held during the Iran hostage crisis. A busy retail and business corridor carries much of the daily traffic, and wooded parcels and open land fill the gaps between subdivisions.
A Hermitage map poster shows that looser suburban pattern well. Curved residential streets sit next to straighter main roads, and the boundary with neighbouring Sharon and the other valley towns appears as a gradual change in density. The result is an open, airy composition that feels quite different from a dense downtown map.
