Jatiroto lies in the southeastern corner of Central Java, in hilly country not far from the border with East Java. It is less a single town than a district of villages, and the map reflects that: scattered clusters of houses, roads that follow ridges and valleys, and wide stretches of cultivated land lying between the settlements.
In black and white this becomes a delicate pattern. Local roads wind with the terrain rather than running straight, meeting at small centres where daily life gathers. Streams and field boundaries add fine lines, and the overall impression is of a landscape shaped patiently by farming over generations, with no single dominant core pulling everything together.
