Jayrūd is a town in the Rif Dimashq governorate of Syria, in the dry country northeast of Damascus on the way toward the Syrian desert. From above, the town appears as a compact cluster of streets set among wide, open land, with low ridges and mountains visible in the wider region and roads leading off across the plain.
