Jewar lies in Gautam Buddh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, south of Greater Noida, on the flat plain east of the Yamuna River. The old town is compact, with narrow lanes gathered around its markets, and it is surrounded by farmland crossed by field tracks and irrigation channels. On a map, that pattern is clear: a small, dense core set in a wide, open landscape of fields.
Jewar has become widely known as the location of Noida International Airport, a major new airport for the Delhi region built on farmland near the town. The Yamuna Expressway, which links Greater Noida and Agra, runs nearby, and new roads are being laid out around the airport site. The town's surroundings are changing quickly, from agricultural land to large-scale infrastructure.
