Jucás sits in the interior of Ceará, in the semi-arid country Brazilians call the sertão. From above, the town is a tight cluster of blocks with a church square near its centre. Beyond the last houses, the map opens into a wide pattern of rural roads, field boundaries and thin lines of streams that run only part of the year.
That contrast gives a Jucás map poster its character. The dense urban core reads as a small dark knot, while the surrounding municipality is drawn in sparse, wandering strokes. Small reservoirs are common across the Ceará interior, where they store rain from the short wet season. Where they fall inside the frame, they appear as pale shapes scattered between the roads.
The town belongs to the centre-south of the state, a region shaped by cattle raising, small farms and the rhythm of rain and drought.
