Kabūdarāhang lies north of Hamadan in western Iran, on a high, open plain ringed by distant mountains. From above, the town forms a compact grid of streets surrounded by farmland, with roads radiating outward to villages and to the provincial capital. The fields around it create a fine, regular pattern.
The county is best known for the Ali Sadr cave, one of the world's largest water caves, where visitors travel through its passages by boat. The town itself serves as the local administrative and market centre for the surrounding agricultural area, which produces grain and other crops on the fertile plain.
