Kalpatta Map Poster & Print
Kalpatta, often written Kalpetta, is the headquarters of Wayanad district in northern Kerala. It lies on a plateau in the Western Ghats, surrounded by tea and coffee estates, spice gardens and forested hills. The air is noticeably cooler than on the coast below.
On a map, the town follows the terrain, not a plan. The main highway linking Kozhikode on the coast with Mysuru in Karnataka runs through the centre. Smaller roads branch off it to climb the surrounding ridges, and short lanes cluster along the valley floors. Estate roads loop through the plantations in narrow, looping lines.
