Kannod is a town in the Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh, on the broad Malwa plateau of central India. From above it has the shape of many market towns in the region: a close-knit centre of narrow lanes, a few main roads reaching out in different directions, and a looser ring of newer building at the edges before the fields begin.
The map is honest about scale. There is no grand boulevard or river frontage here, only the everyday geometry of a working town that serves the villages around it. That modesty is the appeal.
